More than five years of planning, researching, and construction went into erecting the Shrine of the Holy Spirit in Branson, Missouri.
Visionary, businessman, and philanthropist Gene Bicknell had a vision from the Lord that directed him to create one of the most amazing spiritual sanctuaries in the country, one that could be seen by the millions of people who visit the popular Ozarks’ destination each year.
An Amazing Spiritual Haven, Unrivaled in its Construction
There are few properties or facilities in the country that can match the amazing amount of work, effort, and investment that went into creating this remarkable landmark.
More than 100 tons of steel (200,000+ pounds and more than what was used in the construction of the Statue of Liberty), more than 400 tons (800,000+ pounds) of blue stone (enough to complete 18 round-trips from New York to Branson), 125 tons (250,000+ pounds) of re-bar that if stretched end-to-end would span more than 20 miles, and 2,650 tons (5.3+ million pounds/1,335 cubic yards) of concrete were used to create this amazing structure.
Additionally, the structure required more than a month of non-stop rock blasting, 200,000 man-hours to build, and had nearly 30 sub-contractors that employed an additional 100 laborers.
Addressing the construction of the Shrine, Bicknell stated:
The Cross on the Tower represents God and Jesus. The Sphere represents the world or the head. The neck is below the Sphere and it extends to the shoulders. From the shoulders, the walls represent the arms. Note that the arms are shaped around this place of worship, giving us comfort as we express our faith and pay homage to the Three Persons of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Beautiful Design & Grounds
In addition to the centerpiece of the Shrine, the grounds also include a chapel, seating area, fountains, the Ten Commandments, and hand-selected Bible scriptures and verses which are engraved on the walls that adorn the property.
Additionally, the facility also hosts a gift shop which offers drinks, books, and other items of which all the proceeds and income go back toward the upkeep and maintenance of the Shrine.
